V. O. stands for very own, which is paid homage to what this whisky blend was created for. Joseph E. Seagram’s very own family. According to the story, its origins began when Joseph’s son, Thomas, asked the distillery’s blender, William Hortop, to prepare a whisky specifically blended to celebrate his wedding. However, Thomas thought it had to be shared given how good it was. Upon tasting it, he demanded the family put it on the market. As you know, it’s now one of Seagram’s flagship products.
